Kpeve Location
The Place Fishing communities live adjacent to Lake Volta. Most of the village activities are somehow linked to the Lake. Craftsmen construct traditional canoes and boats, fishermen repair the nets and other fishing equipments, women smoke or cook fish. Occasionally, some villagers take part in other activities such as kente weaving or the production of other crafts – but much of the life is centred on the Lake.
Visitors have the possibility to go on a Lake cruise with one of the traditional dugout canoes and explore the flora and fauna. Or they might want to participate in the various fishing methods. Villagers usually use small nets to catch little bait fishes. Afterwards they go out with their canoes with long ropes and hundreds of hooks attached to it in one-meter intervals. Others might use very long nets of more than 50m. Regular life in a fishing village, of course, is also very attractive. Villagers can teach their traditional methods of preparing the fish or introduce visitors to boat construction or net repairing activities. Information for the Visitor
